The Marina Thermal Facility was a greenfield development project. Marina Energy, as owner, and DCO Energy, as the developer and operator, developed and financed the project as an off- site central utility plant, which serves the Borgata Hotel and Casino complex in Atlantic City, NJ. This energy project emphasized the long-term vision of creating, in phases, a district heating and cooling system that provides heating, cooling, electric and emergency power to the complex.
- DCO developed, designed, built, operated and maintained offsite plant
- Central energy center serving hot water and chilled water for casino/hotel, CHP plant
added as hotel expanded - 7.5 MW gas turbine/38 MMBTU/hour heat recovery-hot water
- 22,000 tons of chilled water using electric and hot water absorption chillers
- 200 MMBTU/hour hot water boiler capacity
- 8MW of emergency generation; 4 MW peak shaving
This facility was fully operational during Super Storm Sandy – providing electric, and thermal energy, operating in island mode.
