Hartford Hospital, with 867 beds for patient care, is one of the largest teaching hospitals and tertiary care centers in New England. The Hospital entered into a long-term Energy Purchase Agreement with Hartford Steam Company for the installation of a 1.4 megawatt fuel cell at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, CT.
- Owned by Cartier Energy – a Vauban Infrastructure Partners, LLC company.
- DCO provided EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) services for this project. DCO Energy is a minority co-investor and provides operations and maintenance services for the plant.
- 1.4 MW DFC1500 fuel cell power plant located adjacent to Hartford Hospital.
- Output of plant is 1.4 MW of electric, and 1,600 lbs/hour of steam. Excess heat not used by Hospital is supplied to the district energy system in Hartford (Hartford Steam Company).
- Project is under a long-term agreement with Hartford Hospital.
- Renewable energy project only occupies 2,250 square feet.
