CORRECTIONAL FACILITY CAMPUS ENERGY SYSTEM – COMBINED HEATING, COOLING AND POWER

DCO, working with the County of Essex, designed and constructed the Combined Heating Cooling and Power (CHCP) facility and Central Energy Center (CEC) for the entire correctional facility, which consists of four separate buildings, one support building and three housing units.
- DCO currently operates and maintains the CHCP and CEC under a long-term contract and has done so for more than 20 years.
- 6MW cogeneration power
- 3,000 tons of chilling, 2,400 BHP hot water and steam
- The facility provides all heating, cooling, domestic hot water, and base load electricity.
- Two Caterpillar 3615 reciprocating engines with heat recovery steam generator
- DCO provides HVAC, electric, and plumbing services to 2,250 inmates and detainees across 1 Million SF.
Peak load shaving results in over $200,000 per year of utility bill savings to Essex County. DCO provides facility maintenance services at the prison and across various Essex County facilities.
